Warm, cozy and excellently located: the Abraham Hostel in Jerusalem!

August 28, 2016 | By More

We’ve said it before, but the guys at Abraham Hostels know how to run hostels. And the Abraham Hostel in Jerusalem is where it all started, the hostel where Abraham first let Jerusalem travelers rest their weary heads…

We stayed at the Abraham Hostel in Jerusalem for 4 nights, straight after spending time at their new Tel Aviv hostel, so if it’s a comparison you’re looking for, you’re going to get it!

First up, we’re going to say that the Abraham Hostel in Jerusalem isn’t quite as impressive as the Tel Aviv hostel. But considering the Jerusalem branch has been open for a few years longer, and is geared perhaps more so to the independent traveler than Tel Aviv – and that everything at the Tel Aviv is brand, spanking new and three times the size – then it’s a little easier to see why…

In its defense, the Jerusalem branch is very cozy, a little more intimate, and in an awesome location – just a minute’s walk from the nearest light rail station, and another 2 minutes walk or so from the amazing Machane Yehuda market, a place we fell in love with during our stay (thanks in part to a great market tasting tour).

Hummus Workshop

As in Tel Aviv, there are some great events to take part in, and there’s usually something happening every night in the huge lounge. We enjoyed a hummus workshop, burger night on the roof, and an awesome little pub crawl through some of Jerusalem’s hidden bars, the ones you’ll never ever find on your own. Like this Russian gem, complete with open mic uber talent…

I’ll also have to point out that the room we stayed in looked much better in real-life than it does on the website, so that was a bonus for us. The kids loved the bunk-bed of course, so had to take turns (there were 3 of them, and only one top bunk!)!

Yep, if you’re looking for a great budget-friendly option in Jerusalem, the Abraham Hostel has to be on your list! Highly recommended!
