There’s nothing quite like spending some time in the Holy City of Jerusalem, especially with your family. Here we’ve compiled a list of the FIVE best family hotels in Jerusalem, hotels renowned for their facilities and family-friendliness, so you and yours are going to have an astounding time in any one of them!
In no particular order…
Harmony Hotel Jerusalem – an Atlas Boutique Hotel
The Harmony is excellently located within walking distance of the Old City, Zion Square and Jerusalem’s great shopping and nightlife. Rooms are on the smallish side, but otherwise beautifully appointed and comfortable.
Staff are very friendly and responsive. The traditional Israeli breakfast is very good. Late afternoon “happy hour” on the outdoor terrace is a treat. The breakfast buffet is served with a lot of local food, and not the typical continental or English breakfast. They also typically serve several types of bread, milk, coffee, lemonade and orange juice, vegetables and fruit salads, corn flakes, cereals and cheese. Staying at the Harmony is worth every shekel (Israel’s currency) you pay.
The King David, Jerusalem
This hotel is located very close to the Old City. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and very clean and the service is very good. The pool is fabulous and it’s a treat to spend a few hours swimming and relaxing in the garden. The breakfast buffet is unbelievable and the old-fashioned waiters are too cute, very solicitous.
The King David is also just a short stroll away from a trendy neighborhood with lots of outdoor restaurants, bars and cafes. There is also a mall nearby with some of the basic clothing chains and some nice art and souvenir shops.
Inbal Jerusalem Hotel
The Inbal Hotel is well located and has everything you need for your family–including a wonderful breakfast buffet, a pool, and a nice fitness room. The rooms are a little dated but spacious, clean, tidy and well-presented, and are apparently undergoing renovations as we speak.
There’s typically a lot of activity in the lobby–people finding their tour groups, family reunions assembling, etc. So not the perfect spot for a romantic getaway in our opinion, but perfect for your family. There is a nice rooftop bar if you spring for an “executive” room. Staff are friendly – certainly attentive to sort out any problems. The opportunity to sit outside on a roof deck with a glass of wine, looking out at ancient Jerusalem is one not to miss…
The David Citadel Hotel
The location of this hotel and the stunning swimming pool overlooking the walls of the Old City are two awesome reasons to stay here. The buffet breakfast is also great, the food selections varied and very well presented, with patient and very helpful waiting staff. To sit gazing at the Old City walls dripping with history while you eat is really a special experience.
You can’t beat the location and rooms are immaculate, if a little on the simple side. Gym and Spa are also available here. You and your family are guaranteed an amazing stay, in one of the world’s top locations! Recommended!
Leonardo Plaza Jerusalem
The location could not be better for this hotel, with a quick walk to the Old City and Ben Yehuda pedestrian area (one of Jerusalem’s top sites for shopping and people gazing). Internet in the business lounge is available for an additional fee but that also includes snacks and beverages in the afternoons and the evening.
The staff are very friendly and efficient and the rooms are comfortable (some have mentioned the excellent pillows and beds). The elevators are the best that many customers have ever seen with innovative software reducing traffic. For families in Jerusalem, the Hotel Leonardo Plaza is a great choice!
